Through the strategic application of camera movement, I infused the narrative with depth and dimension, immersing viewers in the unfolding tapestry of Indonesia's history and aspirations.
Pre-Production
Brainstorm
The project started with collaborative brainstorm between scriptwriter, illustrator, and motion graphic designer, where everyone could suggest and input their ideas into 1 document.
Thumbnail format were ideal for this step, as it enables us to effectively drag, drop, switch between ideas, and adjust sequence order according to our creative vision.
Animatic
One of the most important step of this project, animatic serves as previsualization when visual, audio, timing, and transition come together.
Animatic allows us to determine the video's total duration, each scene's length, audio synchronization, rough transition, all with minimal time and effort.
Storyboard
Next come the visualization of the idea. The storyboard was kept simple to capture the big picture of the scenes, also to give our illustrator more creative freedom when it comes to creating the final assets.
It was essential to make sure the visual represents the heroic journey of Indonesians in two different timelines.
Best Shots
Most crucial part of the animation was dynamic camera movement that allows viewer to enjoy the story through seamless transition between scenes. 3D layers was used extensively here, as well as strategic positioning of each object on the scene to achieve parallax effect.
